Tugdock has won an award for ‘Game-changing Innovation’ at the Marine-i Innovation and Technology Awards 2023. The event was held at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay on 3rd March to celebrate the achievements of the £13.4 million Marine-i programme.
Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Marine-i has supported nearly 200 businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to accelerate their innovations over the six year programme 2017-2023.
Awards were made to the four businesses which were judged by an independent panel to demonstrate outstanding innovation and exceptional market potential.
The award for ‘Game-changing innovation’ is the accolade for the business that, in the opinion of the independent expert judges, has developed an outstandingly innovative technology, leading to a breakthrough.
Tugdock won the award for their Modular Road Transportable Floating Dry Dock.
Prof Lars Johanning of University of Exeter and Programme Director for Marine-i said:
“Enabling the fast-growing floating offshore wind industry to reach its full potential requires new thinking and innovative solutions. The Tugdock innovation has global potential.”
Shane Carr, CEO of Tugdock, said:
“We are delighted to receive this prestigious award, especially as we were up against stiff competition from so many other superb innovative businesses, supported by the Marine-i programme over the last six years.
“We believe that our revolutionary patented technology is a real game-changer for the floating offshore wind industry, both in the fast growing Celtic Sea region and around the world. It is wonderful to receive this endorsement from Marine-i.”
